Technology Consulting
To accomplish a truly integrated business process, we work with
clients to evolve their organizations’ basic business models
into high-level business processes that integrate and streamline
processes, activities, inputs, and outputs. PB Consult’s focus
is on advising clients during the strategic planning and implementation
of information management systems. The result is a well-managed
infrastructure program that enhances our clients’ transportation
investment analysis, project development, funding acquisition, implement
and investment and performance tracking capabilities.
Over the years, our staff have played vital roles in bringing new
technology to the transportation industry, including introducing
the concept of standardized equipment bar coding to the transit
industry, and overseeing the development of an overall technology
strategic plan for the transit industry. Comprising senior professionals
with expertise in information technology, maintenance management,
procurement management materials management, and asset management,
PB Consult offers real-world solutions for those responsible for
transportation services and facilities.
Procurement Planning
PB Consult offers experts in developing and implementing procurement
practices for public agencies – from advice on purchasing,
field procurement and materials handling, to analysis of subcontracting
and expediting procedures. PB Consult staff have played key roles
in reforming the Federal Transit Association’s (FTA) procurement
guidelines (4220-1d), and now have the only private sector representative
contributing to the FTA-sponsored panel on procurement reform.
Asset Management
PB Consult understands that asset management is a continuous process
that links policies with financial planning, programming and performance
monitoring to determine if objectives are met. With our extensive
experience across the transportation sector, including highway,
transit and rail systems, and air, PB Consult’s asset management
professionals are able to apply the best principles of engineering,
business management, and economics to create a framework for short-
and long-term transportation planning. PB Consult is part of some
innovative assignments around the country to define the future of
asset management, and to help transportation agencies understand
what asset management means for them. We are working to establish
an asset management guidebook through the National Cooperative Highway
Research Program (NCHRP), a resource that will undoubtedly become
an industry standard.
PB Consult employs staff who are routinely engaged in policy-level
decision making with governments and private-sector chief executives
to formulate and execute highway programs and strategies. Representative
topics included highway financing, privatization, asset management
and institutional strengthening. Our staff have assessed major departments
of transportation, like the Texas DOT, to recommend the best solution
for implementing a management system that would allow the agency
to make better, more timely decisions on how to best manage its
assets.
